Woven Purple Fabric Wristlet

I made a slightly smaller version of the wristlet out of this purple fabric. It has a nice color variation and the print makes it look like chenille. I have prepared and woven the strips just like the other two batik bags. The fabric is from the Quilt Shop in Pine. They have great fabric and great prices!

Batik Woven Wristlets

I've been wanting to make some of these bags for a long time. I can't wait to walk into one of my favorite quilt shops with one of these in tow! I used batik fabric that I cut into strips. I finished the edges and selected strips for the warp and weft. I then wove and stitched them together for stability. It was a process that I imagined and was able to pull off. It's a great way to use many fabric scraps or you could use one very busy piece of batik! After I wove the fabric section, I made the wristlets.

Featured Gold and Magenta Bag!!!

My gold and magenta wristlet was recently featured in a Treasury on Etsy!!!

Finished Blue Hawaii Quilt!!!

Here are some photos of the finished quilt!

Blue Hawaii Toddler Quilt (Under Construction)

This toddler quilt was made out of beautiful blue and blue-green batiks. It is strip pieced and there are also shaggy rag accents. I used organic cotton batting and it is fully free motion stitched. I recently took it into a quilt shop and the gals in the store came over to ask about it. I had collected the fabric for about one and a half years and then one day, it all fell into place. It's a very special little quilt!

About Me

My photo
I enjoy silversmithing, making jewelry, beads and working with paracord. I sculpt in polymer clay and desert themes are my favorite. I'm always looking for ways to incorporate the beauty of nature into my work. My work has been published in a large book called "1000 Beads," Lark Jewelry and Beading, 2014. I have sold beads through the Glendale Bead Museum Shop, a gallery in Tucson and www.wearartbyjulie.etsy.com. I'm an artist currently showing my jewelry at the Shemer Art Center in Phoenix, AZ.
